Supported print settings for driverless printing

When you print through the OptimiDoc Cloud virtual spooler without installing a manufacturer print driver, the job is sent to the device using its native driverless protocol. Which print settings are carried through depends on the device manufacturer.

The table below shows, for each manufacturer, whether a setting can be selected in the print dialog on your computer (Driver) and whether it can still be changed on the device panel when you release the job (Panel).

How to read this table. Each cell shows two values separated by a slash: Driver / Panel. Support is listed per manufacturer, not per model — an individual device can only offer settings that its own hardware supports (for example, stapling requires a finisher unit).

Notes

  1. Sharp: one-sided and long-edge binding can be changed on the device panel; short-edge binding can only be set in the print driver.

  2. Xerox: one-sided and long-edge binding are supported; short-edge binding is not.

  3. Canon: the bypass tray cannot be selected; all other trays can.

  4. Lexmark: manual feed cannot be selected; automatic tray selection and Tray 1 can.

  5. HP: the paper size of the target tray must be configured on the device beforehand.

  6. HP: only staple is supported

  7. Xerox: availability depends on the printer model and its reported capabilities; each setting is available only if the device reports support for the corresponding parameter.

Good to know

Settings shown as not supported on the panel are still applied to the job exactly as you selected them in the print dialog. They simply cannot be changed afterwards at the device.

If a setting you need is not supported for your manufacturer, install the manufacturer print driver and use the OptimiDoc Cloud print queue in driver mode instead.

Manufacturer support is added and extended over time. If you are unsure about a specific device model, contact OptimiDoc support.
